just the usual bag of nerves…

For me, creating art is a mostly solitary business. I am, at heart, an introvert; I don’t like drawing attention to myself. That’s not to say I can’t shout if I have to, or make conversation with anyone and everyone, but just know, that it’s not always easy for me. I have to give myself a ‘talking to’, and haul that metaphorical carapace around myself.

So why, oh why, do I do this to myself - participate in an Art Festival? Well, there is a part of me that loves that interaction with fellow artists, visitors, and, fingers crossed, buyers… To discuss all manner of arty things, festival matters or just generally ruminate on everyday happenings.

And to satisfy that need for interaction, I will be taking part in this year’s Patchings Art Festival - 13-15 July - in Nottinghamshire. You will be able to find me in the Artists’ Marquee (not sure which stand number yet, but will let you know).

Preparations are well underway; work has been selected, frames ordered, more books ordered, float checked, box of tools checked. There is a seemingly endless list, but I am slowly working my way through it; choosing titles, adding work to inventory etc. etc. etc…

So if you are visiting, do stop by and say ‘hello’; it’s always nice to meet up with old friends, and to make new friends! Hopefully I will have got control of my nerves by that stage…

Just one thing though weather, can it not be quite so hot this year as it was last, pretty please!!
