Where quiet colours gather in the hollow of the land.
There are places in the landscape that seem to hold a particular stillness, where the light softens and the colours of the land become muted and elusive. Bleak Hollow draws on this quieter side of the landscape, bringing together pale blues, hints of mauve and soft greens, punctuated by flecks of brown ink that give the surface a sense of texture and quiet energy.
Working with watercolour, acrylic ink, watercolour pencil and collage, I have built up layers of colour, line and fragmented texture. Washes of colour drift into one another, while finer marks and fragments introduce contrasts and details that emerge gradually from the surface. Rather than describing a particular view, the painting offers an impression of place — somewhere shaped by atmosphere, memory and the subtle shifts of light across the land.
