Original abstract landscape painting by Carolyn J Roberts
An impression of a landscape that lingers in the memory.
Some impressions of a landscape remain with us long after the moment itself has passed. A colour, a shape or a particular quality of light can return unexpectedly, bringing with it a sense of somewhere familiar yet just out of reach. Distant Echo explores this feeling, where the landscape becomes less about a particular place and more about what remains in the memory.
Pale blues, hints of mauve and soft greens create a muted, atmospheric palette, with flecks of brown ink introducing small points of contrast. Working with watercolour, acrylic ink, watercolour pencil and collage, I have built up layers of colour, line and fragmented texture. Soft washes merge and overlap, while finer marks and fragments suggest details that seem to surface and recede across the painting.
Rather than describing a recognisable view, the work offers a more elusive impression of landscape — something glimpsed, remembered and quietly carried with us.
A small original mixed media landscape painting with a contemplative quality, Distant Echo invites you to pause and consider the places and moments that stay with us, even when their details begin to fade.
