Original abstract landscape painting by Carolyn J Roberts
Where the last light settles over the land.
As daylight begins to fade across the landscape, familiar hills and valleys take on a softer, more mysterious quality. Gloaming Dale explores this quieter moment, when the last traces of light settle over the land and shadows begin to merge, leaving an impression of somewhere both remembered and imagined.
Layers of watercolour, watercolour pencil, acrylic ink and collage create a surface rich in texture and subtle variations of tone. Expressive marks and shifting shapes suggest the contours of the landscape without describing every detail, allowing atmosphere and feeling to take precedence over the literal view.
A small original painting with a reflective, atmospheric presence, Gloaming Dale captures the fleeting beauty of a landscape caught between light and darkness.
