Original abstract landscape painting by Carolyn J Roberts
Where the seasons leave their colours on the moor.
There is a wildness to the open moorland, where the sky can shift in an instant and the land carries the colours of the changing seasons. In Wild Sky, Withered Moor, blue-grey and pale green mingle with earthy browns and unexpected touches of orange, suggesting the last warmth of the season lingering in an otherwise weathered landscape.
Working with watercolour, acrylic ink and Posca pen, I have built up layers of colour, line and expressive marks to evoke the shifting moods of the moor. Some marks feel soft and atmospheric, while others bring a sharper energy to the surface, reflecting the contrast between the openness of the sky and the textured, changing land below.
A small original landscape painting with a more vibrant, untamed character, Wild Sky, Withered Moor is an exploration of seasonal change and the enduring presence of the landscape through it all.
