As the light faded, the river seemed to gather the quiet of the evening around it.
The inspiration for this expressive mixed media painting came from a magical evening beside the river, when the sounds of the day were beginning to melt away and swallows and house martins swooped low over the water. There was a hush settling over the landscape — that fleeting moment between day and night when everything seems to slow.
Created in delicate washes of watercolour, acrylic ink and charcoal, Fading Light, Water’s Whisperings captures that quiet transition. Soft layers of colour, subtle line details and gentle shifts between light and shadow evoke the movement of the reeds, the fading light and the whisper of water.
