Every year, as spring edged its way into the landscape, a small cluster of reeds would rise slowly from the water — at first tentative, then confident, swaying and dipping as the river’s current coaxed them into motion. Their rhythm was mesmerising: a gentle dance that marked the turning of the seasons. In their shelter, moorhens skittered, ducklings bobbed in and out of view, and the river seemed to hum with quiet life. These reeds became familiar companions, returning year after year, each time offering the same sense of calm, constancy, and quiet magic.
