Original, mixed media landscape painting by Carolyn J Roberts
There’s a quiet beauty to a frosty morning — that silvery light, the breath of cold air, and hedgerows laced with strands of frozen webs. Winter Hedgerow captures that still moment when the world glistens — when the fields lie hushed beneath their icy veil and every twig seems edged in crystal.
Created with a delicate mix of watercolour, acrylic ink, oil pastel, pencil, and watercolour pencil, this painting layers cool blues and soft greys to evoke the shimmer and texture of a landscape transformed by frost. Subtle marks and gentle washes build into something both tranquil and alive — a memory of winter light caught on paper.
