An expressive small work inspired by the Isle of Skye in the moments just after rainfall — when the air clears, colours deepen, and the landscape seems to breathe anew beneath a lifting sky. After the Rain, Skye captures that fleeting transition as cloud begins to break and light moves gently across the land, revealing form and distance in soft, shifting layers.
Created through oil paint monoprint and collage, the surface holds a richness of texture that echoes the dampened ground and saturated tones left in the wake of rain. Subtle tonal variations suggest hills emerging through mist, their edges softened and redefined as light filters through. Darker passages anchor the composition, while lighter areas open outwards, evoking that sense of space and quiet clarity that follows a passing shower.
